Personal Statement Writing
SYNOPSIS
Perhaps the hardest part of the UK university application is the personal statement (a requirement by Ucas), where students are expected to sum up their entire identity within 4,000 characters and no more than 47 lines. The Personal statement is a piece of writing like no other. It is supposed to contain the key ingredients of your personality, experience, academic and non-academic persuasion(s), course motivation(s) and a a glimmer into the future so that the admissions tutor can sum you up and decide if you are a good fit for the course and university, and very often, if you would be able to contribute to the university beyond just attending university.
BAFEL is proud to have experienced trainers in this subject matter who will guide students to write a personal statement that influences the decision of the admissions tutor through the use of ‘hypnotic’ language, a clear structure and all other ingredients of effective writing.
OBJECTIVES
- How to draw attention to specific skills
- How to use ‘hypnotic’ language effectively
- How not to write fluffy exaggerated lines about one’s abilities
- How to weave a story/narrative into your writing
- Learn the structure, grammar and vocabulary of a personal statement
